Cover crop seeding can be done any number of ways. Throughout our time in the refurbishing business, we’ve helped over 600 farmers. Many have utilized a vertical tillage tool for mounting their seeder, but there have also been a number of other ideas implemented.
We’ve had at least 3 customers that utilized an old Hagie sprayer or detassler to make a high boy style seeding machine to interseed after the crop is tall. We’ve had multiple customers that have combined their seeding with their harvest. Whether they’ve mounted the seeder on the back of the combine or on the head, it's always good to make 2 trips into 1. Several customers have also mounted a seeder on their toolbar. The whole point to be made is that a grower’s imagination seems to be the only limit in possibilities to how to get cover crops established. We would love to help you discover the possibility that works best for your operation. Check out our air seeder mounting options page for some pictures sent in by customers after they got their seeder setup complete, or submit a request for info on our contact page.

The Star Tribune posted a recap of President Biden's visit to Minnesota, and specifically his speech at a farm in Northfield. In the speech, Biden said his administration is providing $5 billion in investments to "tackle the climate crisis through climate smart agriculture and cover crops", among other initiatives.
Questions still to be answered: 1 - when will funding be available? 2 - what will the requirements be? 3 - will it be available to all producers or only new producers like EQIP is? More to come, hopefully.... https://www.startribune.com/president-joe-biden-embarks-on-barnstorming-tour-of-rural-america-with-stop-at-minnesota-farm/600316359/ |
